Sleepless in Paulsboro....

Recently my nights have consisted of heaving my ever growing belly from side to side each time wedging a pillow under my belly to create the most comfortable sleeping position. I’m not quite sure why I can’t sleep but I’m guessing it’s related to having to pee every three hours and a constant pain in my right hip. Turning violently on a crappy hard mattress tends to disturb your pleasantly sleeping partner. And this makes me feel bad…. Kinda. So…. Melissa and I went last night and purchased a $1500 super duper comfy pillow top mattress in hopes that we could both get some sleep! I can’t wait and I know Melissa is excited too!

We also purchased a Glider/Recliner off the internet. Great idea until we realized that the freight company only delivers to your door. We had to quickly round up people to help squeeze the oversized chair through the front door and down the steps of the family room. Why did we order off the internet and not just go to a store and have it delivered? Well because I had to have a GLIDER/Recliner and not a ROCKER/Recliner that most stores sell. And Melissa being the wonderful Wife she is found one that matches the couch perfectly.

So… Hopefully Thursday night will bring sound sleep in the new bed and Friday I can relax in the big comfy GLIDER/Recliner in the family room. That will be all the big purchases we make for a while except for Brianna’s loft bed, new mattress and new desk for her birthday. And then NO more!!

November 7th:

Well it worked...... Current mood: indescribable Category: Goals, Plans, Hopes

took us 4 months but it's actually real!!!!! We still can't believe it... We actually took a total of 8 tests between last night and now.... Each one had a faint line..... Then I took a digital test and I finally believed it.... it said PREGNANT! So leave me a comment tell us how crazy we are for actually thinking that we should do this.... And those of you who have kids leave me some advise!!

December 14th:

First one down! Category: Goals, Plans, Hopes

Well everybody I had my first prenatal appointment today.... It was kind of disappointing in away. All she did was ask me a bunch of questions and do a physical exam (internal). My blood pressure was great and urine test for sugar and protein was negative! I sooo wanted to hear the heartbeat but she said that their equipment won't pick it up until 12 weeks. My next appointment is in 4 weeks so then I'll be 12 weeks and five days! She will definitely be able to hear the heartbeat by then. She said that everything feels as it should for this point in the game! Yeah! Keep your fingers crossed that everything continues to go well! Thanks, Lauren Melissa and Brianna

January 4th:

We have a heart beat!! Current mood: excited Category: Goals, Plans, Hopes

Last night I used our rented Doppler and found the heart beat of our little one.... It was very exciting!! I counted it to be 153 beats per minute which is a very good number. I actually feel like it's real now and can relax a little bit. I have my next prenatal appointment next Thursday and I can tell the midwife that I have already found the heart beat!! That's all for now.....

January 12th:

And second one down..... Kinda! Current mood: anxious Category: Life

Well I went to my second Midwife appointment and it turned out to be very interesting. First my mom accompanied me because Melissa couldn't get off of work. I was telling Julia that I rented a Doppler and that I've been hearing the heartbeat for about two weeks. I also told her that on one occasion I heard the heartbeat in two different locations and was wondering if that was normal. (I did do some research and read that it isn't totally uncommon to hear the heartbeat in two locations.... but I think that its' more common when you are father along.) She proceeded to lecture me about the downsides of renting a Doppler and how she ends up getting calls in the middle of the night because some crazy lady can't find her baby's heartbeat at 3:00 in the morning. She informed me that they cause unneeded anxiety due to people not using them right. I told her that I would probably send it back and me asking about the"two" heartbeats was probably a good example of the "unneeded" anxiety. She explained that the only way that she would send me for an ultrasound was if I was measuring larger than I should. So..... She asked me to tell her where I heard the heartbeat and I pointed to the place that I heard it more times than not. She found it right away..... 152!! Just like I told her. Then she proceeded to examine my ever growing stomach (externally). After pushing and prodding for a couple of minutes she looked at me real serious and asked "do you mind if I do an internal"? I asked my mom to leave the room because there's no need for her to see all that at this point...... She examined me thoroughly and looked at me and said "I'm sending you for an ultrasound". She explained that I could just be 3 or 4 weeks off from my due date but I explained that there is no possible way! I know exactly when I ovulated and we did artificial insemination for god sakes...... So..... We are kinda thinkin that I did hear two heartbeats and that it's gonna be twins..... Could you believe it?? Well we go tomorrow at 11:00!! I'll keep you all updated on the findings!

January 13th:

Drum Roll Please...... Current mood: ecstatic Category: Life

We are proud to announce that we will be the proud parents to ONE baby. We had the ultrasound and every thing is going as is should. The baby was moving all over the place and sucking it's thumb!! I can't believe how amazing it was to see a 4 inch baby and what it can make you feel.... She couldn't tell the sex at this point but in about 7 weeks we will know if that perfect little baby is a boy or a girl..... If you want to check out the pics. I scanned them in and put them in my picture section.

Welcome to my life.....

Hi everybody.... After being a stalker on blogger for about 6 months now I've decided to start one of my own. I don't really have much to write about except the occasional rant about how boring my work is and of course family stuff. I actually will probably talk most about being pregnant and then the wonderful (I hope) birth of our first child together. We are receiving care from THE BIRTH CENTER in Bryn Mawr, PA and love it so far. I am very much looking forward to having a natural birth and hope that it goes at least half as well as I'm expecting it to. Melissa has been and continues to be very supportive and Brianna is sooooo excited to be a big sister. As soon as I figure out how to link to flicker or another similar site I will do that so everyone can see our fun family photos. The picture above is of our little one at 13 weeks 0 days... I think she looks like me!

Ok.. so I'm a horrible writer and think that I have some form of learning disorder probably Dyslexia but was never diagnosed (seriously).... So please keep that in mind when reading these posts!
