Getting BIG!

Well as you can see I'm getting ridiculously Big! There is just no need for a person in week 20 to be this big. As I grow my patience and self control seem to be dwindling! For example: I threw a fit last week because the Panzarotti that Melissa brought home from the pizza place was not big enough to satisfy my monstrous hunger. Keep in mind that pre-pregnancy I didn't ever like Panzarotti's or pizza. Melissa actually had to call and order another one and have her dad bring it over STAT..... I have also been loosing it with Brianna... She is going through a (as Melissa would call it) "fresh" stage and she has a comeback or excuse for EVERYTHING! I won't say too much about that but I did feel terrible when she wrote me an absolutely wonderful sorry note with bubble gum taped to the front.

We ordered the bedding for Jamesen's room! YEAH!! It's so cute. The only problem is, is that the bedding is not here and our painter is ready to go. So last night we went and picked out the paint. It's kinda bright and I really hope it doesn't look like neon green on the walls... I think he's coming on Thursday (the night I work until 10:00 PM) so it'll be a big surprise when I get home.

Sleeping is still a struggle every night. Now I pee a good 3-4 times a night and hear every bump, creek and Chinese Delivery Guy at the door at 11:45 at night. Yes last night we were awakened by the dogs barking like they were being beaten..... Melissa flew down the stairs to see the Chinese delivery guy standing at the door. Obviously (well maybe not with my appetite these days) no one at this house was up and eating.... ALL the lights were out.... I mean come on use some common sense!

I was able to feel Jamesen moving A LOT today. I just sat there at work with this glazed over look and a smile on my face. He was moving for about 5 minutes and I loved every second of it. Before today it was like oh I think he just moved..... Now I can truly feel him!

It's a.....

BOY!!! It took 45 minutes by the ultrasound tech is friends with my mom and she wasn't letting me go until she could see... he had his legs crossed the whole time until the end. He is measuring 19 weeks 2 days (even thought we know I'm only 18 weeks to the day) and 10 oz. (we think he'll be big).... We went to babies r us and registered we couldn't help it.... We put everything on the registry.. And spent $160 on the cutest little boy clothes. I'm very picky when it comes to boy things. I hate dogs, bears, trucks and tools on clothing and such.... I only really like stripes, bugs and solids!! I know weird. I've always wanted a girl but knew deep down that either way I would be happy!! I truly am the happiest person today!!

One more down.....

I had my midwife appointment last Thursday.... Everything is going very well and she was able to answer all of my questions. This was the first time I was able to see her (Holly) and I really liked her. When we listened to the heartbeat I was concerned for a millisecond because it sounded so different. I think she noticed that I was questioning what I heard and she right away said that the heartbeat sounded great. She explained that what we were hearing was the actual valves opening and closing.

I mentioned to her that we have our hearts set on finding out the gender on my birthday this Saturday and that I would be 18 weeks that day. She explained that at 18 weeks the evaluator may find certain markers that are associated with syndromes or birth defects. She explained that at 20 weeks or 22 weeks these markers may not necessarily be seen and that there may not be any abnormal findings (false positives). She remarked that she would wait herself but I was free to do what I felt was right. Well I'm not sure if it's right but Melissa and I have decided to go this Saturday. I will be sure to update everyone on the (hopefully) good news.

I know most of the people who read this already know but just in case I wanted to mention that unfortunately Melissa's stepmom JoJo passed away this past Thursday. It has been the hardest and sadest thing that we have dealt with as a couple. I'm really not good at dealing with death and am having a bit of a hard time being supportive toward Melissa and Brianna. I know it will get better but I don't think anyone will ever "get over" loosing JoJo. I have to agree with all of her friends and family when they say that she was truly one of the most amazing people in this world.

Awake and Dreaming?

Ok… Melissa is threatening me now so I figured I’d give a little update. We are very much looking forward to our next Midwife appointment on Thursday with a new Midwife (Holly). The Birth Center rotates you through about six midwives so that by the time you are giving birth you have met and feel comfortable with all of the Midwives on staff. We are going to try to talk her into giving us the script for the “BIG ULTRASOUND” so we can schedule it for February 17th (my birthday). I’ll only be 18 weeks that day and I am concerned that we won’t be able to tell the sex of the baby but we are stubborn and want it to be that day. Plus Melissa will be away the weekend that I turn 20 weeks and we thought it would be a wonderful birthday present to find out boy or girl on my actual birthday.

Well if dreams are any sign of what is to come I looks as though we’ll be having a very long birth day resulting in a very cute (red head) baby girl named Mia. My last night consisted again of constant tossing and turning (the bed is soooo comfy though) and dreaming of a very long painless birth. I could feel the baby's head between my legs (sorry TMI) and when I got to the "Birth Center" I was already 5 cm dialated. When the baby was finally born I suctioned her mouth and nose and she just looked at me without crying. I got really close to her face and said her name “Mia”. I remember thinking she’s really cute which is different from my previous dreams when the baby was just not cute or an animal….

I think I felt the first movement yesterday on the way to work. I sneezed very obnoxiously and right after I swore I felt a flutter right below my belly button. I can’t wait to feel movements regularly.

We took a picture of my belly last night (16 weeks 2 days) and I think I will post it later tonight. I look like I’m about 30 weeks along (and I'm wearing mismatching PJ's)… I think I get more bloated in the evening after eating and drinking because I notice in the morning I don’t look so big.

Besides the insomnia I’ve also been experiencing some round ligament pain when I sneeze, cough or move suddenly. I also think that being pregnant is sucking the moisture out of my skin. I never had a problem with dry skin and now my hands are constantly dry and my back and butt are sooooo itchy! Other than these minor inconveniences I am pretty much enjoying being pregnant. Sometimes during the day I just am floored that I actually have a little life growing inside of me.
